Knowledge is an indispensable resource for organizations to perform their tasks successfully and to innovate. Knowledge management is an integrated field of multiple disciplines that seek to exploit knowledge more efficiently. This paper analyzes the activities (and stages) of knowledge management. For this purpose, a survey of more than 2000 papers and thesis is presented, in which the proposed activities are analyzed. A knowledge management model is then presented that considers various perspectives: the individual perspective (associated with learning), repositories perspective (storage and retrieval), the team’s perspective (sharing and dissemination) and the identification and creation and acquisition of knowledge. The knowledge management model proposed included these activities: learning, retrieval, representation & structuring, socialization, dissemination, identification, creation and acquisition.
